What does each PC Care service involve?
Each PC Care service takes approximately two hours, depending on the amount of work required to
get your computer back to full performance.
Each service generally includes:
- Virus and spyware cleanup
Multiple best of breed solutions with routine and manual scanning
- System Startup Optimization
Optimize the number of programs running to allow the computer to run at peak performance. Many programs automatically run in the background each time the computer starts. Little used, or unused programs are set to launch only when needed.
- Disk cleanup
Unnecessary temporary Internet and program files use valuable hard drive space and can contribute to computer slowness or other problems.
- Hard drive defrag
Maintaining a clean, properly clustered file system will extend the life of the hard drive and substantially reduce ‘computer crashes’. The computer hard drive is the only component of the computer that has moving parts and therefore most vulnerable for problems. Performing a routine defrag will reorganize files to let the hard drive access files faster and not work as hard as an unmaintained drive.
- Security Software audit
Complete review of antivirus and firewall configurations. Ensure all values are properly set and up to date with the latest definitions and patches.
- Updates
Apply critical and appropriate updates for windows and other critical system software. Not all automatic updates are appropriate for some computers because of version conflicts and unnecessary/unused downloads.
- Error cleanup
Removal of recurring nuisance error messages and system glitches to improve computer performance and eliminate interruptions during use.
How do I schedule my PC Care?
Two weeks before your PC Care service is due, we will begin notifying you via email and the iTOK HelpDesk, and
providing you with a link to schedule your maintenance.
Simply schedule a time convenient to you. Please allow about 2 hours for a thorough cleaning.
At your scheduled appointment time, please leave your computer running and connected to the internet.
Please remember, that during the maintenance time if you use your mouse or keyboard,
you may be disrupting the PC Care process, and possibly causing delays.
